About Me

I've been in love with the outdoors ever since I was a kid. And don't ask me how long ago that was. I'm not telling! But I've always enjoyed hiking along scenic trails through forests, along rivers and lakes, across meadows carpeted with wildflowers. Few things are as therapeutic, or good for you, as taking a good hike. There're always interesting things to see if you just look.

I consider myself blessed to have seen so much beauty over the years in every season, including winter. Strangely enough, the older I get, the more I love getting out in nature. That's one of the reasons I moved to SW Virginia, because of the outdoors opportunities.

Although I believe western North Carolina has been my favorite place of all the places I've lived. It's incredibly scenic there and has some interesting little towns, such as Brevard (where I taught at Brevard College for several years), Highlands, Cherokee, Asheville (not so little), etc. Their history is full of fun facts as well, having been settled by Scottish pioneers. But more about that later.

Now I'm a freelance writer/editor and have almost as much fun writing about outdoor activities as I've had doing them.
